We’ve reviewing a lot of zombie games lately and for a change, I found this app quite interesting and the best of all it’s a free application.  Slice Summer by FeelingTouch Inc. is an addicting puzzle game that combines the elements of Slice It by adding a simple twist on its own. If you have been a fan of slicing game from Fruit Ninja to Slice It, then you’ll definitely love Slice Summer.

Slice and Dice

Like I said it pretty much borrows from Slice It where you have to slice portions of the board. But instead of slicing parts equally, players have to fill the progress bar while avoiding the scarabs. Sounds simple right? Well on the first few levels, slicing is as easy as pie but once you get into the later levels it gets a little intense and bit frustrating if you managed to make a wrong move. Scarabs are all over the board and they bounce off from the wall, making it challenging to make a clean straight cut.

Slices are made by swiping your finger and you can’t make any curve slice just plain old straight horizontal, vertical or slanting line.  To spice up things even more, scarabs come in different forms and flavors and some of which even have special abilities like the red scarabs that move faster than normal ones,  and scarabs that multiply after a couple of minute just to name a few.  There are also some levels where it gets even more challenging with the introduction of metallic walls that restricts you from starting on slicing on that part of the board.

Powering-Up

To help you out with your slicing dilemma, the game adds power-ups to make your life easier. These are helpful most especially if you have a hard time completing a level. Power-ups include slowing down time, protection bubbles for not accidentally cutting scarabs, and bombs to kill a scarab for the duration of a level. These power-ups can be purchased and upgraded through the Prop Shop by purchasing them through the use of coins. If you still can’t finish the level even with the help of power-ups, you can always fast forward by using your accumulated points to finish a level.

Finishing each level rewards you with coins and the faster and lesser slices you made throughout the level the more coins you’ll earn. Also, your performance on each level is ranked through the use of a 3 star rating. As of now, Slice Summer offers three themed stages with 32 levels on each stage.

If you think that Slice Summer is just a ordinary hack and slice game like Fruit Ninja, then think again. The game requires a bit of strategy and lightning fast reflexes if you want to achieve a 3 star rating. With the right timing and carefully planned slices, then accomplishing each level on Slice Summer will be like a walk in the park.

The app also supports online leaderboards through Global Gamebox. A handy little feature if you love showing-off your high score and achievements to other plays in the world.  In terms of graphics, Slice Summer doesn’t fail to disappoint with cute scarabs beautifully rendered in 2D. It’s more like of a kids game if you ask me.

Conclusion

Although Slice Summer doesn’t really bring anything new to the table, it does however created something innovative and new using the formula of slice and dice games. If you have been a fan of Slice It before, then I highly recommend that you give Slice Summer a go. Slice Slummer is a fun game that you definitely don’t want to miss.
